Piro is a smart gas alarm designed to make kitchens safer. The name is inspired by the word "pyro" meaning fire, and the product's tagline captures it well: "Your safety, Our Piro-rity." The device sits in the kitchen and uses a PIR motion sensor to detect when the stove has been left unattended for over two minutes, and an MQ-2 gas sensor to alert users when LPG concentrations reach unsafe levels. The project covered end-to-end product design including electronics, physical form, branding, and visual identity.

Existing solutions were either too expensive, too complex, or not designed with the everyday kitchen environment in mind. Designed the complete product spanning the electronic circuit using an Arduino UNO with a PIR motion sensor, MQ-2 gas sensor, buzzer, and LED indicators, through to the physical enclosure and brand identity. The form was kept compact and rounded, finished in Indigo Batik, a cool dark grey chosen specifically because it would not show dirt easily in a kitchen environment. LED indicators provide immediate visual feedback and a buzzer handles audio alerts. The branding, including the logo, tagline, and product name, was developed as part of the project deliverable.
