Kshema is a personal healthcare companion designed to encourage adults above 40 to take charge of their preventive health. The product combines a physical smart figurine that dispenses medication and syncs health data, with a companion app for scheduling, reminders, goal tracking, and community support. The project followed a rigorous design process from problem exploration and primary research to morphological mapping, concept evaluation, and final detailing.

The Challenge

The Challenge
People above 40 in Bengaluru were avoiding regular health checkups despite being at risk for serious morbid diseases, largely because early symptoms are invisible and easy to dismiss. Fear of misdiagnosis, financial concerns, and a general lack of health awareness made the problem deeply behavioural, not just logistical. The design challenge was to create something that could motivate, remind, and emotionally support users toward consistent preventive care without feeling clinical or intimidating.

The final concept paired two touchpoints. Kshema, a friendly physical figurine that dispenses medication and connects to the clinic for data sync, and a companion mobile app that allows users to set health schedules, track goals, log nutrients, and connect with a community. A voicebot built into the system adds a layer of personalised motivation and reminders. The concept was selected through rigorous evaluation using a morphological matrix across five competing ideas, scoring highest on criteria including regular health checkups, proper guidance, and self-care.

The project delivered a validated concept with a detailed final prototype spanning the physical figurine design, full app UI across home, feed, and activity screens, and a functional voicebot interaction. The solution addressed both the behavioural and logistical barriers to preventive healthcare for the 40+ demographic.
